Celebrate Fête de la Musique in Paris this June 2019
- Event: Fête de la Musique
- Date: June 21st 2019
- Venue: Multiple
The Summer solstice isn’t usually something you’d think you have to celebrate, but here in Paris on the longest day of the year, we decided why not make it another excuse to have a fantastic party. And so this year, as the city has done since 1982, bands take to the streets to put on a little bit of a boogie as we celebrate Fête de la Musique.
Staying with us while it’s on, or have never heard of it before and would love to know more? Here is all the information you need to know about the 2019 Fête de la Musique.
When does Fête de la Musique 2019 take place?
The festival takes place on Friday 21st June, the day of the summer solstice. This year will be the 36th edition of the Fête in the capital.
Where does the Fête de la Musique take place?
There isn’t one location for the event. It is spread out across Paris with many of the famous squares and parks turning in to miniature venues for a few hours. There’s almost a surprise around every corner in some parts of the city.
A common hotspot is along the banks of the Seine, but it can get quite touristy there. We would recommend the Jardin des Tuileries and the Petit Palais as perfect spots to catch a performance.
What kind of music is played at Fête de la Musique?
Because it’s such a large event, there’s going to be music to suit every taste. It isn’t just a case of walking by a hundred people busking, but pockets of bands and performers giving it their all. Expect everything from jazz to classical to dance to rock.
There is an English website with details about the event here, including where to find specific genres.
